Pierre Lagonelle appointed first deputy mayor of Tarbes
Pierre Lagonelle has assumed the role of first deputy mayor of Tarbes, taking charge of the city's finances and administration. A political veteran with over two decades of experience in local politics, Lagonelle enters this executive position following a municipal coalition agreement formed in March with Mayor Pascal Claverie.
Lagonelle, who holds a doctorate in economics, aims to ensure fiscal stability and maintain unity within the 30-member municipal majority group. He emphasized that despite having similar vote totals in the last election, there is no personal competition between himself and Mayor Claverie, noting they maintain strong working relations.
In addition to managing the city budget, Lagonelle has pledged to oppose the proposed relocation of the local hospital to Lanne.
