Pierre Lamely acquires asylum-related domain following celebrity open letter

AfD Member of Parliament Pierre Lamely has acquired the expired NGO domain ‘Deutsch für Flüchtlinge’ (German for Refugees) to transform it into a guide for asylum seekers.

This move follows an open letter sent in December 2025 by various German cultural figures—including Günther Jauch, Herbert Grönemeyer, and Nobel laureate Herta Müller—to Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The signatories, which included numerous journalists and actors, advocated for the voluntary admission of more Afghan refugees and urged the government to continue the policies of the previous administration.

In response to the letter, Lamely challenged the signatories, suggesting they should personally provide accommodation for arriving Afghan families by converting their own villas into initial reception centers. He has contacted the signatories individually and raised inquiries within the Bundestag regarding the matter.
