Pierre Moscovici resigns from European Court of Auditors

Pierre Moscovici has resigned from his position as a member of the European Court of Auditors (ECA), less than a year after beginning his six-year term on January 1. The former European Commissioner and former president of the French Court of Accounts cited personal reasons for his departure.

Moscovici stated in an interview that he wished to balance his family life with his responsibilities in Luxembourg and expressed a desire to “contribute to the public debate” in France as the country approaches the 2027 presidential elections.

Per European regulations, Moscovici will remain in his role until a successor is appointed. The Council of the European Union will name the replacement based on a proposal from the French government and following consultation with the European Parliament.
