Pierre Poilievre pitches new auto pact in Detroit
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre traveled to Detroit to advocate for a new auto pact aimed at protecting the Canadian automotive industry from increasing tariff threats. Poilievre expressed concern that potential tariff increases on January 1 are already stalling investments in Canada. His proposal includes removing the GST from Canadian-made vehicles to reduce costs by 5 per cent and incentivizing the production of an additional 30,000 vehicles. He also suggested removing electric vehicle subsidies and the current EV mandate.
