Pieter Grinwis wins PrinsjesPrijs for parliamentary craftsmanship
Pieter Grinwis, a member of the ChristenUnie, has been awarded the PrinsjesPrijs for his commitment to parliamentary democracy. The award was presented by Senate President Mei Li Vos during the opening of the Prinsjesfestival in The Hague.
The jury, chaired by Jetta Klijnsma, praised Grinwis for his thorough dossier knowledge, parliamentary craftsmanship, and constructive, solution-oriented approach to politics. The jury noted that his work involves seeking feasible solutions and building consensus across party lines, specifically citing his involvement in two private member's bills aimed at improving tenant protections and his ability to garner support for plans regarding taxation and public finances.
Grinwis described receiving the award as 'very honorable,' stating that making laws better and giving a voice to overlooked regions and people often happens away from the spotlight but is where real differences are made.
