Pieter Heerma to investigate research into foreign interference

Dutch Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, Pieter Heerma, has announced an investigation into the methodologies of six organizations hired to research foreign interference and democratic manipulation. The decision follows questions from BBB leader Henk Vermeer and reports suggesting that some research conducted for the ministry may not meet scientific standards.

Justice for Prosperity has been confirmed as one of the organizations under review. Other entities mentioned in reports include Stichting Weerbare Democratie, Stichting Democratie Monitor, and Voor Ons Nederland. However, the latter two organizations have stated they were never hired by the ministry and are therefore not subject to the investigation.

Jelle Postma, founder of Justice for Prosperity, stated that his organization conducts research into democratic undermining by various political actors and intends to remain transparent in its accountability. The investigation is part of a broader ministry effort to study foreign manipulation, with research from recent municipal elections set to be made public by the end of 2026.
