Pietracatella investigation: Ricin poisoning case advances

Investigators in the Pietracatella ricin poisoning case are intensifying efforts to reconstruct the events surrounding the deaths of Antonella Di Ielsi and her daughter, Sara Di Vita. The victims died in late December at Campobasso’s Cardarelli Hospital following a meal during the Christmas holidays.

Recent investigative actions have focused on the forensic analysis of electronic devices seized during searches conducted on September 29. These searches included the residence and professional studio of Gianni Di Vita, the father and husband of the victims. Authorities are also examining seized physical items, including a bag belonging to Antonella Di Ielsi and a copy of the book “Tiro al piccione” by Giose Rimanelli.

In addition to digital forensics, the Larino Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing testimonies, including a recent hearing with a waste collection worker who operated in the area during the holiday period. Investigators are also looking into new developments regarding Alice Di Vita, the sister of the deceased Sara, as they work to clarify the family's personal relationships and movements during the period in question.
