Pietracatella Poisoning Investigation Sends Evidence to Berlin

All evidence collected in the Pietracatella case – biological samples, clothing and food remnants linked to the deaths of Antonella Di Ielsi and her daughter Sara Di Vita, who were poisoned over Christmas – has been dispatched to the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin for scientific analysis, including tests for ricin.

Prosecutor Elvira Antonelli has halted the filing of the final autopsy report until the complete technical opinion, signed by all forensic experts, is ready. Medical examiner Benedetta Pia De Luca has so far transmitted only the conclusions, reserving the full document for later submission after obtaining the required signatures. The authorities aim to provide the accused, the victims’ families and their lawyers with the finalized report for review and possible comment.
