Pietracatella ricin killings probe expands with German‑Italian expert team

Seven months after a ricin poisoning killed mother Antonella Di Ielsi and daughter Sara Di Vita in the Molise town of Pietracatella, investigators have intensified their search for clues. A joint team of German scientists from the Robert Koch Institute, German police, and Italian law‑enforcement officials spent a full day inside the family home, sealing the area and collecting samples from furniture, clothing and other surfaces. The collected material will be processed in Germany, while the Italian prosecutor’s office has also requested assistance from the FBI to obtain data from a U.S.‑based online platform linked to an anonymous profile that searched for ricin information under the nickname “mister X.”

Local officials, including Mayor Antonio Tomassone, have called for transparency and truth as the investigation continues, emphasizing the community’s demand for answers.
