Pietracatella ricin murder investigation deepens with new interrogations

Italian police continue probing the ricin‑poisoning murders of Antonella Di Ielsi and her daughter Sara Di Vita in Pietracatella, Molise. Father Gianni Di Vita and his surviving daughter Alice were questioned together for the first time after spending more than two hours apart in the Campobasso Questura, where investigators examined contradictory statements and seized Alice’s mobile data.

The inquiry also focused on a longtime family friend, mathematics teacher Laura [redacted] from the Agrarian Institute of Riccia, who faced her third interview. Authorities are trying to pinpoint when and how the toxin entered the holiday meal on December 23, considering possibilities ranging from a dark‑web purchase to an improvised laboratory process. A secret diary kept by Alice, detailing foods eaten and symptoms, is now being used as a potential key piece of evidence. The case has involved about a hundred witnesses and extensive digital forensic analysis of seized devices.
