Pietramontecorvino community launches new social hub in historic bar
Following the closure of Bar Caffè Basile, a local institution in Pietramontecorvino that had operated since 1888, the community is launching a new social space called ‘Ce vedeme o’ cafè’. The original bar closed its doors on January 26, leaving a void in the town's central square.
In response to local demand, the association ‘Dalla parte dei paesi’ worked with the municipality to repurpose the space. Rather than a traditional commercial bar, the new initiative will serve as a community-managed hub for social interaction. The space will offer areas for residents to gather, enjoy drinks, play card games, or use board games and books.
The project is inspired by the ‘1000 bistrot’ concept in France, which focuses on revitalizing small towns through local meeting points. The new space is scheduled to open in the final week of August, with an introductory meeting planned to present the project to the public.
