Pietrasanta celebrates 70th Carducci Poetry Prize with cultural events and a new twin-town pact
The National Poetry Prize “Giosuè Carducci” marked its 70th edition in Pietrasanta, Italy, with a day‑long programme honoring the poet born in Valdicastello. Activities included the award ceremony for the school‑poetry contest, the opening of a temporary exhibition in the poet’s birthplace garden that commemorates 120 years since Carducci received the Nobel Prize, and the unveiling of a new mural by artist Irene Volpi. The event also featured the signing of a friendship pact between the municipalities of Pietrasanta and Castagneto Carducci, aimed at strengthening cultural ties linked to the poet’s legacy.
Organisers highlighted the project “Carducci between memory and future,” designed by prize president Ilaria Cipriani and architect Tiziano Lera, which envisions a cultural path along the Baccatoio stream linking the poet’s house to the former Edem area.
