Pietro Riva takes third at Memorial Peppe Greco in Scicli

Pietro Riva secured third place in the 10-kilometer road race at the 33rd Memorial Peppe Greco in Scicli, Italy. This event marked Riva’s return to competition following his silver medal performance at the European Championships in Birmingham.

Eritrean runner Dawit Seare won the race with a time of 29:08, following a surge at the eighth kilometer. Kenyan athlete Kelvin Kariuki Gachaga finished second with a time of 29:31. Riva completed the course in 29:38, noting that he faced challenges due to a stomach issue and wet cobblestone conditions caused by rain.

The event featured Nadia Battocletti as the official godmother. Additionally, honorary citizenship of Scicli was conferred upon Olympic marathon champion Stefano Baldini and Kenyan runner Paul Tergat during the festivities.
