Pieve di Arezzo restoration works face delays
Safety and restoration works at the Pieve di Arezzo are facing delays. The parish priest, Don Alvaro, has called for greater clarity and an acceleration of the project, noting that activities on the bell tower and inside the church have recently come to a standstill.
The current phase of work is funded by the Ministry of Culture and focuses on the structural safety of the complex. Recent allocations include three million euros, which supplement a previous million euros designated for anti-seismic interventions on the bell tower. The project aims to consolidate the tower and reinforce internal structures, such as stairs and floors, using specialized alloys to ensure stability.
Other planned interventions include verifying the stability of columns on the exterior facing Piazza Grande, as well as work on the roof, the dome's drum, the presbytery, and the side aisles.
