Pigeon rescued after two days in The Hague classroom

A homing pigeon that entered an empty classroom at the Vlietkinderen Kindcentrum in The Hague was successfully rescued after a two-day effort.

Initial attempts by staff and an animal ambulance driver failed because the classroom's six-meter ceiling was too high for standard catching nets. Despite staff opening windows and placing bread on windowsills to lure the bird, the pigeon remained in the building.

A second attempt by animal ambulance driver René succeeded after using a platform and a ladder to reach the bird. The pigeon, which appeared thin and weak, was identified as a homing pigeon by its green and blue leg rings. It has been taken to the animal ambulance shelter to await its owner.
