Pignataro Maggiore: Couple staged fake abandonment of their own newborn

In Pignataro Maggiore, a 19-year-old man staged a fake abandonment of a newborn baby to cover up a secret birth. Investigations revealed that the infant, named Mattia, was actually the son of the young man and a 16-year-old girl.

The couple had reportedly hidden the pregnancy from their families and chose to give birth at home. Following the birth, they provided initial care themselves before the father called emergency services, claiming he had found the baby on the street.

Both the father and the mother have expressed their intention to recognize the child and raise him. The case is currently under review by the Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere and the Juvenile Court of Naples to determine legal custody and address potential charges regarding improper conduct.
