Pikermi to host screening of ‘Divorzio all’italiana’

The Culture Department of the Municipality of Rafina-Pikermi, in collaboration with the Ciné School of Pikermi, will host a screening of the 1961 film ‘Divorzio all’italiana’ (Divorce Italian Style). The event is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 20:00 in the KAPHI Pikermi hall.

Directed by Pietro Germi and starring Marcello Mastroianni, the film is a classic of the ‘commedia all’italiana’ genre. Set in Sicily, the story follows Ferdinando Cefalù, an aristocrat seeking to escape his marriage in an era when divorce was illegal in Italy. The film, which won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and the Best Comedy award at Cannes, uses dark humor to critique the social hypocrisy and laws regarding honor and family of that period.
