Mario Kart 8 Deluxe receives major update for Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo has released a major free update (version 4.0.0) for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, specifically designed to enhance the experience on the Nintendo Switch 2.
A primary feature of this update is the expansion of local multiplayer, which now supports up to eight players on a single console via split-screen. To achieve eight-player mode, users must have at least one Joy-Con 2 or Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, though up to seven original Switch controllers can be connected.
Technical improvements for Switch 2 users include higher resolution support for the console's display and high-definition televisions, as well as significantly reduced loading times. The update also introduces CameraPlay, allowing players to use a compatible USB camera to display their faces during races.
Additional gameplay adjustments include a slight increase in racer speed, a fix for the Boo character's speed reduction when going off-track, and a new ‘96 Races’ option in VS Race settings for those who own the Booster Course Pass.
