Pilar, Córdoba: Investigation into shooting of Dogo Argentino

An investigation is underway in Pilar, Córdoba, following the shooting of a Dogo Argentino. The incident occurred at a residence located on National Route 9.

A 42-year-old homeowner reported that the dog entered his property unexpectedly and attempted to attack him, prompting him to defend himself with a .22 caliber firearm. Police seized the weapon and a spent shell casing from the scene to assist in the investigation.

However, the dog's owner, a 30-year-old man, disputes this version of events. He claims the animal, which he had raised since it was 30 days old, had no history of aggression and was killed on the sidewalk rather than inside the property. He expressed doubt regarding the homeowner's claim of an imminent attack, suggesting the shot may have been fired at close range or directly to the head. The dog was taken to a local veterinary clinic for medical assistance.
