Pilar Etchechoury withdraws from squash match due to injury
Squash player Pilar Etchechoury experienced a mixed debut during the South American Games in Rosario. In her opening match, the Neuquén-born athlete defeated Chile’s Camila Gallegos with a score of 3-2 (11-4, 7-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-7).
However, during her second match against Ecuador’s Mara Bueñaño, Etchechoury suffered a knee injury after losing the first two sets. She chose to withdraw from the match to recover, stating that the injury was not serious but required rest to continue the competition.
Etchechoury is a veteran of the South American Games, having previously won two silver medals in Cochabamba 2018 and a silver and bronze in Asunción 2022. Other Neuquén athletes are scheduled to compete in archery, slalom, taekwondo, and hammer throw as the games enter their final week.
