Pilar Sordo identifies internal dialogue as key to mental health
Chilean psychologist and author Pilar Sordo has identified internal dialogue as the most fundamental unit of mental health. Following eight years of research, Sordo noted that the way individuals speak to themselves defines their self-esteem, worldview, confidence, and resilience in the face of uncertainty.
Sordo emphasized that personality is not static, stating that people evolve constantly based on changing priorities and circumstances. She argued that successful maturation requires accepting vulnerability and integrating external changes with internal reality.
Additionally, Sordo warned of a degradation in vocabulary due to the excessive use of technology and visual resources. She noted that a reduction in lexicon can hinder the ability to express complex emotions, potentially leading to frustration and impacting psychological equilibrium.
