Pilates exercises for core strength and abdominal health
Pilates is a fitness method focused on strengthening deep musculature, particularly the transverse abdominis, which acts as a "natural corset" to support the spine and prevent back pain.
Specific exercises can be used to assess and improve physical condition. The "Single Leg Stretch" serves as a test for core strength, stability, and proprioception. If instability occurs during the movement, it may indicate weakness in the deep abdominal muscles. Additionally, the exercise can reveal muscular imbalances or limitations in hip flexibility and hamstring mobility.
To target the abdominal area and improve posture, effective exercises include the plank for pelvic floor and abdominal strengthening, scissors for oblique muscles and stability, and the bridge for working the abdominals and glutes. For optimal results, regular practice—ideally three times per week—and proper technique are recommended to prevent injury.
