Pilates industry in Japan expands through new studios and professional training
The Japanese pilates market is seeing both expansion in studio accessibility and a push for higher professional standards. La pilates, a women-only brand specializing in a fusion of osteopathic care and machine pilates, has opened a new location in Shiki, Saitama Prefecture. The studio focuses on personalized instruction to improve posture and core stability.
Simultaneously, BDC PILATES is addressing the growing demand for qualified instructors by launching the BDC PILATES Instructor Program (BIP). Scheduled to introduce a reformer teaching course in November 2026, the program aims to move beyond simple exercise memorization. Drawing on the 40-year legacy of the Broadway Dance Center, the curriculum emphasizes insight, design, and instructional ability to help practitioners analyze individual physical needs and anatomical mechanics.
