Pilates instructor launches solidarity initiative in Argentina

Pilates instructor Gabriela Álvarez has launched a solidarity initiative to help students maintain their physical activity amidst Argentina’s current economic challenges. The program aims to assist individuals who have been forced to abandon exercise due to rising costs.

Following a trend of students withdrawing from classes because they can no longer afford monthly fees, Álvarez introduced a discounted rate. The standard monthly fee for two weekly classes is 53,000 pesos, but under the new proposal, the cost is reduced to 33,000 pesos.

Álvarez emphasized that pilates is a medical necessity for many dealing with spinal or postural issues, rather than just an aesthetic choice. She noted the importance of democratizing access to physical exercise to ensure it does not become a luxury.
