Pilgrimage to the relics of Blessed Metod Dominik Trčka

The 14th annual one-day pilgrimage to the relics of Blessed Martyr Metod Dominik Trčka will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2026. This year's event marks the 25th anniversary of his beatification.

Participants will embark on a 30-kilometer walk starting from Nižný Hrabovec, the birthplace of Redemptorist Ján Ivan Mastiliak, at 6:15 AM. The route passes through several villages, including Pošu, Nižný Hrušov, Vybuchanec, Lesné, Suché, and Topoľany, before concluding at the Minor Basilica of the Holy Spirit in Michalovce around 5:00 PM. The pilgrimage is open to all ages and includes stops for prayer and spiritual reflection.

Metod Dominik Trčka was a prominent Redemptorist who served the Greek Catholic Church in Slovakia. Following the rise of the communist regime, he was persecuted and imprisoned. After being convicted on fabricated charges of espionage and treason, he died on March 23, 1959, following complications from pneumonia contracted in prison. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in Rome on November 4, 2001.
