Pilgrimages draw crowds in Argentina and prompt cleanup efforts in Spain

In Argentina, more than 740 pilgrims departed from Pergamino in the early hours of Saturday to begin a traditional journey toward the Sanctuary of María del Rosario in San Nicolás. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the pilgrimage, which follows the theme “40 years responding to the call of Mary.” The group is expected to walk approximately 75 kilometers over two days, passing through several localities including Guerrico, Conesa, and Erézcano, before arriving at the sanctuary on Sunday for a mass presided over by Bishop Hugo Santiago.

In Spain, local councils in Vilar de Barrio and Maceda have organized a volunteer cleanup initiative following the conclusion of religious celebrations at the Sanctuary of Nosa Señora dos Milagros. To address the waste, containers, and plastics left behind by thousands of devotees during the nine-day novena, volunteers will conduct a community walk on Saturday, September 12. Participants will meet at Arnuide and the Vixueses bridge to clean the access routes leading to the shrine.
