Pilgrims Europe strike threatens UK sausage supplies

Workers at Pilgrims Europe’s Enniskillen production facility have commenced a strike over pay and working conditions, sparking warnings of potential meat shortages in UK supermarkets.

The dispute involves the Unite union, which is seeking pay increases and fully paid breaks for all shift workers. Currently, the lowest-paid employees earn £12.82 per hour, which is 11p above the minimum wage. Union representatives noted that the company recently reported an after-tax profit of £128 million.

The strike could impact the supply of several popular brands, including Fridge Raiders, Richmond Sausages, Mr Brains Pork Faggots, and Rollover sausages. These products are distributed to major retailers such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons.
