Pilgrims honor San José Gabriel Brochero in Córdoba

Approximately 40,000 pilgrims participated in the 13th annual ‘El Camino de Brochero’ pilgrimage this Saturday in the Traslasierra region of Córdoba, Argentina. The crowd walked a 28-kilometer route connecting the Giulio Cesare area in Altas Cumbres to the Sanctuary of Villa Cura Brochero to honor San José Gabriel del Rosario Brochero.

During the trek, which lasted between five and seven hours, provincial authorities including Governor Martín Llaryora attended an event in Villa Benegas. At this location, a plaque was unveiled to commemorate the path’s designation as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Argentina by the National Congress in August.

Local officials noted that this edition saw record-breaking attendance. Beyond its religious significance, the event is increasingly recognized for its impact on regional tourism. To support the large number of participants, municipal authorities and the Diocese of Cruz del Eje provided hydration stations, medical assistance, and sanitation services along the route.
