Pilgrims return to Mumbai after Nepal-China border floods
A group of pilgrims, including actor Manasi Parekh and 43 individuals from Maharashtra, have returned to Mumbai after being stranded by flash floods and landslides along the Nepal-China border.
During the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, pilgrims faced severe disruptions. One traveler reported that a hotel where they had recently eaten breakfast was swept away by floods, resulting in the deaths of some staff members. In Tibet, a massive landslide in the town of Nyalam trapped a group in a bus for four hours. Upon reaching the Nepal border, pilgrims were forced to walk through additional landslide debris to reach waiting transportation.
The group eventually reached Kathmandu on August 29 and arrived in Mumbai via a Nepal Airlines flight on Sunday. Local authorities in Maharashtra, including the Thane District Collectorate, monitored the group's status throughout the ordeal.
