Pilgrims trek to Holy Cross Sanctuary in Świętokrzyskie Mountains

More than 1,800 pilgrims participated in the 27th Świętokrzyskie Pilgrimage Rally to the Holy Cross. Under the theme ‘To Love the Cross and Creation like St. Francis,’ participants trekked through the Świętokrzyskie Mountains to reach the Sanctuary of the Relics of the Wood of the Holy Cross on Łysa Góra.

The event concluded with a solemn Eucharist led by Bishop Krzysztof Nitkiewicz, with a homily delivered by Bishop Jan Piotrowski. The liturgy included participation from local priests and Oblate missionaries. During the service, Bishop Nitkiewicz noted that the cross serves as a symbol of salvation and unity for pilgrims arriving from various dioceses across Poland. Bishop Piotrowski emphasized the cross as a sign of redeeming love, referencing the biblical encounter between Jesus and Nicodemus.
