Pillar Biosciences and partners to launch lung cancer genomic screening in Japan

Pillar Biosciences, LC-SCRUM-Asia, and LSI Medience Corporation have announced a collaboration to conduct genomic screening for approximately 2,000 lung cancer patients in Japan. The initiative is part of the LC-SCRUM-Asia project and is scheduled to begin testing in August 2026.

The project will utilize liquid biopsy technology to analyze blood-based samples, specifically targeting circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA) and cell-free RNA (cfRNA). This approach allows for genomic analysis when tissue samples are limited or when a minimally invasive method is preferred.

Pillar Biosciences’ oncoReveal Essential+ assay has been validated at LSI Medience for this purpose. The testing aims to identify genomic alterations to support precision oncology research and help identify patients who may benefit from biomarker-driven clinical studies and emerging therapies.
