Pimampiro: Two men burned alive by residents following suspected assassination attempt

A violent incident occurred on Thursday, September 10, in the Chalguayaco community of Pimampiro, Imbabura, resulting in at least four deaths. The violence began with a suspected assassination attempt (sicariato) that left multiple people wounded and at least one person dead.

Following the shooting, local residents pursued the suspected perpetrators. The two men identified as suspects were intercepted, assaulted, and subsequently burned alive inside the Chalguayaco stadium.

Police reported that approximately 200 residents gathered around the stadium, initially preventing authorities from entering the site to conduct investigations. Specialized units from Criminalistics and Legal Medicine have been deployed to reconstruct the events and determine the responsibilities regarding both the initial shooting and the subsequent lynching.
