Pina Bausch legacy and contemporary dance productions announced

Significant dance productions related to the legacy of Pina Bausch and contemporary African dance are being staged in Europe. In Greece, the National Theatre, in collaboration with the Pina Bausch Foundation, is presenting a revival of ‘Kontakthof’. Directed by Josephine Ann Endicott and Daphne Kokkinou, the production features 22 Greek performers and explores themes of human contact and vulnerability.

In Germany, the Pina Bausch Center is hosting Germaine Acogny, known as the mother of contemporary African dance, as an artist in residence. As part of this, Gregory Maqoma has developed ‘BANTU’, a choreography for twelve dancers. The work serves as an homage to Acogny and her École des Sables, focusing on themes of humanity, connection, and the body as an archive of history and resistance.
