Pinamar implements mandatory registry for UTVs, quad bikes, and motorcycles

The Municipality of Pinamar has launched a mandatory municipal registry for UTVs, quad bikes, and motorcycles that do not possess a standard license plate. Starting December 1, 2026, all such vehicles—belonging to either residents or tourists—must be registered to circulate through the Pinamar district.

The registration process is entirely online and aims to create a database that links vehicles to their owners, facilitating easier identification and more efficient traffic control and enforcement through digital tools and plate readers. Vehicles that already have a paid license plate are exempt, though motorcycles that pay the tax but lack a physical plate must still register.

Upon registration, UTVs and quad bikes will receive two identification plates, while motorcycles will receive a QR code. This registration permits travel through all authorized corridors in the district, with specific controls expected in areas such as La Frontera. Costs for registration are calculated based on municipal modules and include a 16% health tax.
