Pinamar launches national competition to redesign Avenida del Mar
The Municipality of Pinamar and the College of Architects of the Province of Buenos Aires (District IX) are conducting a National Ideas Competition to redesign the Avenida del Mar. The project focuses on a 3,000-linear-meter stretch located between Quintana and Del Juncal streets, covering an estimated area of 72,285 square meters.
The competition seeks urban, landscape, and functional solutions to improve public space, accessibility, and mobility while respecting the natural relationship between the city, dunes, and the sea. Proposals are expected to address the integration of the coastal front with the urban fabric and provide strategies for progressive implementation to ensure the city functions effectively year-round.
To date, 54 architects or studios have registered. The deadline for submitting plans, renders, and models is November 30, with the winners to be announced on December 14. Prizes include $10,000,000 for first place, $3,000,000 for second, and $1,000,000 for third. The competition is non-binding, meaning the selected work is not guaranteed for implementation.
