Pinar del Río to celebrate 159th city anniversary
Pinar del Río will celebrate the 159th anniversary of its designation as a city on September 10. Due to current economic austerity, the Municipal Administration Council (CAM) has planned a modest program of activities.
Mayor Yordan Ramírez announced that the commemorations will include a traditional civic parade from Martí Park to Independencia. The program also features cultural proposals in local neighborhoods, community mobilizations for the recovery of public spaces, sanitation efforts, and the repair of facades and common areas.
Key events include the inauguration of a Solinera in the Ceferino Fernández popular council and a community feeding home in La Guabina. Additionally, a cultural gala featuring local talent will be held at the José Jacinto Milanés theater. Educational activities will also take place in workplaces and schools to share the historical evolution of the settlement.
