Pinarayi Vijayan and family named as accused in CMRL-Exalogic scam cases

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) is registering two separate First Information Reports (FIRs) against former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his family members in connection with the CMRL-Exalogic corruption case.

The first case names Vijayan as the primary accused regarding monthly payments made by Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) to Exalogic Solutions, a company owned by his daughter, T. Veena. The second case names CPI(M) legislator and former minister P. A. Mohammed Riyas as the primary accused, involving allegations of corruption money and funds transferred abroad through hawala channels.

T. Veena is named as the second accused in both investigations. This legal action follows a directive from the Kerala High Court, which ordered the state to register cases based on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) report rather than conducting a preliminary inquiry. The ED has alleged that CMRL made fraudulent payments totaling Rs 2.78 crore to Exalogic Solutions under the guise of IT consultancy services.
