Pinarayi Vijayan under intensified ED probe over Exalogic case

Kerala’s veteran leader Pinarayi Vijayan, now Leader of the Opposition, is facing a heightened Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation into alleged financial transactions between his daughter Veena Vijayan’s defunct IT firm Exalogic Solutions and Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL). Investigators are examining records that suggest irregularities in the CMRL‑Exalogic dealings, and officials may soon issue a notice to Vijayan himself.

The probe has altered the political climate within the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The party initially defended Veena, labeling the allegations political, but growing documentary evidence has prompted a more cautious stance. The controversy coincides with an upcoming three‑day state committee meeting and has drawn scrutiny of Vijayan’s son‑in‑law, legislator P. A. Mohammed Riyas, whose silence on the matter is also being questioned.
