Brazil Police Conduct Multiple Operations Against Organized Crime and Fraud
Law enforcement agencies across Brazil have launched several major operations targeting diverse criminal activities, ranging from large-scale smuggling to financial fraud and drug trafficking.
In São Paulo, the Federal Police targeted a clandestine electronics smuggling ring that moved over R$ 460 million. The operation, involving 130 officers, resulted in three arrests and the seizure of luxury goods, weapons, and unregistered weight-loss medications. Simultaneously, the Civil Police in Presidente Venceslau are investigating a banking fraud ring that used 2,700 phone lines to cause R$ 1.27 million in losses, specifically targeting elderly victims.
In Goiás, Federal Justice convicted four individuals for money laundering linked to the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC), with sentences ranging from 3 to over 31 years. Meanwhile, in Santa Catarina and São Paulo, authorities dismantled a group using fake auction websites to defraud victims of approximately R$ 40 million.
Other regional actions include the arrest of a suspected Comando Vermelho leader in Espírito Santo following a confrontation, and the arrest of a mother and stepfather in Paraná for the sexual abuse of a minor. In Minas Gerais, police conducted multiple operations against drug trafficking in Bambuí, Perdizes, Ibiá, and Sacramento.
