Špindlerův Mlýn mayor alleges election manipulation

Martin Jandura, the mayor of Špindlerův Mlýn, has initiated legal action following allegations of voter manipulation ahead of the municipal elections on October 9 and 10. The mayor suspects that political opponents are attempting to influence the election results by registering a large number of new permanent residents in the town.

Since the beginning of the year, 40 people have registered for permanent residency in the town, with 11 individuals registering at a single three-bedroom apartment on a single Friday. Reports indicate that ten of these new residents are candidates in the upcoming election, with six belonging to the newly formed group ‘Špindl žije!’.

Veronika Janoušek Rudolfová, a lawyer and leader of ‘Špindl žije!’, has denied any wrongdoing, stating that the candidates simply live in the area and were formalizing their residency. The mayor described the pre-election atmosphere as highly tense, noting that the upcoming council will decide on significant local projects, including urban planning and ski resort development.
