Pine Bluff Arsenal begins construction on $25 million gate project
The Pine Bluff Arsenal held a groundbreaking ceremony on October 19 to begin construction of the Plainview Gate Access Control Point and Commercial Vehicle Inspection Point. The project, estimated to cost approximately $25 million, will be located just south of the existing gate that was established in 1940.
The development is the result of ten years of planning involving the Arsenal, the City of White Hall, and the Arkansas Congressional delegation. Construction is expected to take approximately two years.
The ceremony was attended by roughly 140 people, including Arkansas Senators John Boozman and Tom Cotton, as well as representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Little Rock District and local civic leaders.
