Pinglu Canal opens to navigation in China

The Pinglu Canal in Guangxi officially opened to navigation on September 16, marking a significant milestone for the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. The canal connects the Xijiang River system with the Beibu Gulf, creating a direct maritime route for southwestern China to reach international markets, including ASEAN countries.

As a major national infrastructure project, the canal provides a more economical and efficient transport link, allowing vessels to travel from inland river ports directly to coastal ports and Southeast Asian destinations without transferring ships. This connectivity is expected to bolster regional trade, support the development of industrial zones, and enhance logistics for sectors such as new energy vehicles and petrochemicals.

To support the digitalization of the waterway, LEDMAN Optoelectronic has deployed ultra-high-definition LED display systems at the Nanning and Qinzhou control centres. These systems facilitate real-time monitoring, vessel tracking, and digital twin visualization, allowing operators to manage ship locks and hydrological data through a unified platform.
