Pingtung and Kagoshima strengthen ties through cultural and youth exchanges

A delegation from the Pingtung County Government visited Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, to strengthen bilateral cooperation in agriculture, tourism, and cultural exchange. During the visit, officials met with Kagoshima Vice Governor Noriaki Fujimoto to discuss expanding partnerships through various upcoming initiatives.

Scheduled activities for the second half of the year include the ‘Kagoshima Hometown Products Exhibition,’ where Pingtung will showcase its local specialties. In October, Kagoshima will participate in the ‘World in Pingtung’ exhibition in Taiwan, and traditional music groups from Kagoshima are set to perform at the ‘Peninsula World Folk Song Festival’ in Hengchun.

Further youth-focused engagement is planned for November, when students from Kagoshima Johou High School are expected to participate in a marathon event in Kenting. These exchanges aim to deepen ties between the two southern regions through sports, music, and academic interaction.
