Pingtung County celebrates 20 years of Hakka language immersion and launches new youth base

Pingtung County is marking two decades of Hakka language immersion education, a program that began in kindergartens in 2007 and has since expanded to primary schools and community settings. To commemorate this milestone, the county government held an exhibition at the Pingtung County Hakka Cultural Center, showcasing teaching achievements and discussing future directions such as AI integration and teacher training.

In a separate development, the Pingtung County government has broken ground on a new project in Neipu Township to transform the former Qiaozhi Elementary School into a Hakka youth entrepreneurship and childcare base. The 177 million TWD project aims to revitalize idle school buildings to support local culture, youth business development, and community care. The site will include a childcare center capable of caring for 60 infants under the age of two, addressing local challenges related to declining birth rates and providing support for young families.
