Pingtung County expands public transit with new buses and YouBike stations

Pingtung County is expanding its public transportation network through new bus donations and bicycle infrastructure developments. In Laiyi Township, a private donation of an 8-seater minibus will be integrated into the Happiness Bus service starting August 28, 115 (2026), to increase capacity and flexibility for residents traveling for medical, educational, and daily needs.

Simultaneously, the Pingtung County Government has secured NT$30 million in subsidies from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to expand the YouBike system. The project includes the installation of 30 new stations and 480 electric-assist bicycles, with the goal of exceeding 200 total stations by the end of 115 (2026). Additionally, a collaborative effort with the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology has launched a trial operation of 18 YouBike stations to improve campus mobility.
