Pingtung County launches community walk‑throughs on low‑carbon living

The Pingtung County government organised two community‑focused energy‑saving tours in early June. In Dongpianbaoshi Village, participants followed a 1.2‑kilometre guided walk that showcased the village’s green infrastructure, including LED lighting at the historic well, a micro‑bialy material centre, a shared farm, and natural cooling corridors. The tour highlighted how traditional Hakka culture can be combined with renewable‑energy practices and soil carbon‑sequestration methods.

On June 26, a similar event was held at the renovated Pingtung West Market. The market’s redesign features high ceilings, natural daylighting, automated ventilation and rooftop solar panels. Visitors learned practical tips such as maintaining indoor temperatures at 26‑28 °C, sealing air‑conditioning leaks, cleaning filters regularly and using high‑efficiency appliances. Both activities aimed to translate the showcased measures into everyday habits for residents, reinforcing the county’s goal of a comfortable, low‑carbon, and sustainable living environment.
