Pingyao International Film Festival announces 10th anniversary lineup

The Pingyao International Film Festival (PYIFF) has announced the lineup for its 10th anniversary edition, scheduled to run from September 24 to 30. The festival will open with a 4K restoration of Fei Mu’s 1948 classic, ‘Spring In A Small Town’. The closing film will be the Hong Kong dramedy ‘Good Trip’, directed by Norris Wong and Hoi Wong.

Co-founder Jia Zhangke will have his short film, ‘Torino Shadow’, screened during the Fenjiu Night event. The festival’s programming includes the ‘Crouching Tigers’ competition, featuring international works such as ‘Ben’imana’ and ‘Filipiñana’, and the ‘Hidden Dragons’ competition, which highlights emerging directors making Chinese-language films.

Gala screenings will feature works from established filmmakers, including James Gray’s ‘Paper Tiger’, Na Hong-jin’s ‘Hope’, and Cristian Mungiu’s ‘Fjord’. To mark the decade milestone, PYIFF will also hold a joint celebration with the Nationwide Alliance of Arthouse Cinemas (NAAC) to recognize the filmmakers and organizations supported by both entities over the last ten years.
