Pinheiros clinches unbeaten Interligas Sub-22 basketball title
Esporte Clube Pinheiros captured the Interligas Sub-22 basketball championship in São Paulo, defeating Argentina's La Union 88‑72 on Sunday, 12 May. The victory secured an undefeated tournament run and marked the team’s second Interligas title, following a 2023 win. Coach Pedro Henrique Araújo (known as Petruko) guided the side, while point guard Lucca Boracina was named tournament MVP after scoring 21 points, pulling four rebounds and handing out four assists in the final and amassing 53 points across three games. Earlier in the tournament Pinheiros also beat Sesi/Franca 74‑67, reinforcing their dominance.
The final, held at the Sesi gym in Vila Leopoldina, São Paulo, highlighted Pinheiros’ strong rebounding (54 total, 21 offensive) and overall control of the match, earning them the title on an international stage against strong Argentine competition.
