Pinja Kärhä wins hammer throw silver at U20 World Championships

Finnish athlete Pinja Kärhä secured the silver medal in the hammer throw at the U20 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, USA. Kärhä's best throw of 68.51 meters occurred in the second round, placing her behind Germany's Clara Hegemann, who won gold with a throw of 68.99 meters.

Reflecting on her performance, Kärhä expressed disappointment regarding her lack of relaxation and power, noting, “Heittäminen oli nyt aika perustekemistä, ehkä vähän jopa alakanttiin” (The throwing was just basic, perhaps even below average). She plans to continue her career in the United States at the University of Texas at Austin.

In other Finnish results, Ella Mikkola finished fourth in the high jump after clearing 1.87 meters, while Topias Mustonen took seventh place in the pole vault with a height of 5.35 meters. Nuppu Willman finished tied for ninth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.80 meters.
