Pink addresses backlash over Macklemore's pro-Palestine remarks

Singer Pink has addressed the backlash following her social media repost of a critique against rapper Macklemore. The controversy began after Macklemore, opening for Ed Sheeran at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, delivered a pro-Palestine speech, wore a keffiyeh, and performed the song ‘Hind’s Hall’ while images of Gaza were displayed on stadium screens.

Pink had reshared a post from StopAntisemitism that accused Macklemore of using ‘anti-Israel propaganda.’ Following intense online criticism, Pink issued a lengthy statement on Instagram clarifying her position. She stated that a ‘repost isn’t a statement’ and noted that she did not agree with all the wording in the original post.

Identifying as Jewish, Pink emphasized that she does not speak for the state of Israel or any government. She reiterated her stance that Hamas is a ‘terrorist organization’ while maintaining that Palestinians deserve a future that respects their humanity and that protecting civilian lives must be a priority. She also expressed concern regarding the context of Macklemore’s performance, noting it took place in a stadium filled with families while displaying violent imagery.
